History

In 1978 P. PASSERIEUX created an entreprise to broker the wines of Languedoc. Coming from a family of four generations of Brokers - Wine dealers from Narbonne and Wine growers in Algeria, he was continuing the family traditions. On the 1st March 1978 he has created the company "VINISUD S.A." in Beziers..

Since 1870 - Narbonne 1918
"A.PASSERIEUX VINS3

During the 26 years it has existed, the brokering office "VINISUD" has become the company "PASSERIEUX VERGNES DIFFUSION" and today is associated with Pierre PASSERIEUX and René VERGNES Wine Brokers and Assessors for the Court of appeal at Montpellier, and Michele PASSERIEUX, Wine Broker. The company VINISUD has become a support to, and a partner of the wine growers of Languedoc.

THE WINE BROKERS

In law, the Broker is an intermediary, a salesman who brings together the buyers and sellers who wish to make a contract between themselves for a commercial operation.

The Wine Broker is a man who both the wine grower and the merchant trust to mediate the transaction for the sale of the harvest or part of the harvest.

He has the responsibility to:

Advise both parties and inform them of market conditions.
• Conduct the negotiations and attempt to reconcile the different interests.
• Confirm and conclude the contract and oversee it's execution.
• Arbitrate any possible disputes.

They had their place in ancient Greece and were known by the Romans under the name of "Corrateri", the functions of the Wine Broker were organised as long ago as Saint Louis in a decree of 1423, then by an ordinance in 1321.

Today, the profession is regulated by the law of the 31st of December 1949, the decree of the 27th of March 1951, the decree of the 28th of April 1964. The latest decree of the 30th of May 1997 installed an examination of professional aptitude.

The Broker is a true expert with a profound knowledge of the men , the land, the wine and the local traditions.

The Wine Brokers can also equally be SWORN IN BROKERS at the court of appeal. They are, therefore, after passing the national examination of the 'Bourse de Commerce de Paris', "Public Officials" and it is by this situation, completely original under French Law, that an operator can acquire the title of 'Commerçant et d'Officier Public'. The business experience gives them an incontestable expertise in their tasks as Public Officials. They are grouped together as a Company in each Court of Appeal under the authority of the Attorney-General.
